British Council held a presentation of research results "English at the workplace"

On 12 and February 14, 2013 in the courtroom of Kiev hotel "Intercontinental" employees of the British Council in Kyiv made a presentation of research "English in the workplace." This work, done in 2012, is a detailed analysis of the role of English and the demand for it in the following industry sectors as tourism and hospitality, ICT, digital journalism, metallurgy and energy.

Commenting on the survey, Garry McIntosh, regional manager of British Council English language development, said that the survey, which covered 101 company, with workers in the tourism and hotel industry, shows that more than 75% of the employees of these firms rated the importance of English for their work as "important" and "very important." Over 60% of respondents indicated that English they need in their future work.

The study, which can be found, in particular, the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation KUTEL show the accuracy rate of the department to expand and deepen learning English for tourism and hotel industry.

The presentation by representatives of the British Council also shared with the participants their experience and knowledge in the field of teaching English for special purposes, which makes it possible to improve a number of methods of teaching language for general and special purposes.

In discussing the results of the study participated teachers of the Department of Foreign Languages and Translation: Castro Rodriguez A.H., V.V. Volinets and Negiva O.N.

Reached a preliminary agreement with the representatives of the British Council in Kyiv on the round table with the participation of all teachers of the department for further discussion of the findings and the various aspects of implementation of the Common European Framework levels of foreign language.
