Prior to Memorial Day Heroes Hundreds of Heaven

On the initiative of the Research Institute of Ukrainian Studies and the department of social and humanitarian disciplines of KUTEL on February 19, Ivan Kannets's documentary film "Ukrainian Revolution" and a film director meeting with students and teachers were held at the university's assembly hall. The event was held within the framework of the celebration of the Day of Remembrance of the Heroes of Heavenly Hundreds.

The film "Ukrainian Revolution" is based on the memoirs of Vsevolod Petriv, a prominent Ukrainian military and public figure in the era of the first liberation struggle. The film's events cover a short but extremely rich chronological period from 1917 to early 1918. At this time, such significant events of national history as the February Revolution, the formation of the Central Rada, the proclamation of the independence of the Ukrainian People's Republic and the desperate armed struggle for its independence have taken place. The film shows successively the processes of the collapse of the imperial army, the formation of Ukrainianized units and their participation in battles with the Bolshevik detachments in January-February 1918.

Such a choice of subjects for the event is not accidental, because despite the fact that 99 years ago, in the context of the events of 2014-2015 in the Crimea and the Donbass, the 1917 revolution and the armed struggle of the young Ukrainian nation for education, and then maintaining its own statehood is extremely updated.

After watching the film, a discussion took place with the participation of the director of the film, students and university teachers.
